We started looking in the middle of the night after milk test. The kids were darting franticly through the darkness making us both exasperated, when Veda promptly walked up and with a great flourish, presented herself to us. We were rather taken by her and earmarked her to look at the next morning. Obviously we really liked her in the daylight as much as Jennifer Bice did at Nationals. Veda is the 2008 Saanen Reserve Jr. National Champion. Veda earned her dry leg under Erin Griner in Fayetteville Tennessee. LulaMae looks very much like her mother did at the same age in style and angularity. She is very smooth with a truly beautiful rear end and tremendous width between the hocks. LulaMae is much improved in her front legs over her mother. Holly was a slower maturing kid and was left dry as a yearling to make sure she had the time she needed to develop. Lulamae is a bit bigger than her mother was at the same stage but she (LulaMae) is still not as big as most of her siblings so we are going to leave her dry for 2009. Taxi’s mother Montana is very angular and has a very impressive mammary with tremendous height in the rear. She is extremely tall and long but is a bit more powerful and deeper in the heart than her mother. Charlotte has an even nicer head than her mother. Dudley her sire seems to be adding these improvements pretty consistently in his offspring. 2 years ago Sonora (Charlotte’s Mother) was Mary Fife’s least favorite doe in the herd but as Sonora kept growing and producing, we believe that Mary and Sonora have warmed up to one another. Mary likes a very elegant, graceful animal and Sonora was rather gangly, and almost gawky, as a young animal. As Sonora ages and matures she is deepening and becoming wider throughout, making her more eye appealing and proportional. Charlotte is very much the same style and shape and may very well develop just as slowly as her mother. It will be interesting to see what Mary thinks of her as a yearling. She has a beautiful rump and wonderful width between the hocks. She is very level in the loin and rump from hips to pins. Miss Wheeza has really nice feet with tight toes and deep heals. She has a rather unattractive head with a Roman nose and shallow jaw line, but Miss Wheeza is still a pretty tight package overall. We have a lot of high hopes for this kid. She has some very large shoes to fill, considering her mother Singapore and her grandmother Tiffany. She has a really beautiful head and very nice feet with deep heals and tight toes. Millie is very wide from thurl to thurl and is very open between the hocks. Rabbit had one of our nicest mammary systems when she was in the herd and was quite the milk producer. Everyday we go out into the barn and look at the kids; Millie catches our eye because she has a rather odd hair whorl directly on top of her withers. We find ourselves paying her a bit more attention than a lot of the others simply because of her “Hair Style”. In our herd these kinds of animals are often the best ones over time. Jane is long and level with nice feet and really nice rear leg angulation. She is a bit immature compared to the rest of the group. Depending on weight, we may not breed her until fairly late in the season. While Baby Jane's mom Eve Harrington is not as flashy as her sister Margo Channing, she is still also a double Man daughter. Eve has a beautiful head and near ideal angulation in the rear legs.
